The Importance Of A Bedtime Routine
With two little ones (4 year old and 1 year old) at home, establishing a consistent bedtime routine is crucial. I’ve always had a bedtime routine for them, it’s been lifesaving! Bedtime runs a lot smoother when children know what to expect.

We usually eat dinner early so we have enough time to play outside. Thanks to my husband’s green thumb, we have a great deal of plants outside. After the babies finish eating, they usually have some daddy time and help him water the plants.
Bedtime Routine For One Year Old
Bath. A warm bath, my little one loves them. I like to use a lightly scented body wash.
Diaper. My son is a pretty good sleeper, sleeps through the night. I like to apply a layer of Destin Rapid Relief Cream before bed to protect him from getting a diaper rash overnight. It’s unscented, hypoallergenic, and instantly forms a protective layer on your baby’s skin. Always make sure your baby is completely dry before applying cream.
Give baby massage. It’s a great way to relax baby and help him unwind. I still do this with my oldest who is now four! Using baby body cream, massage his little body. My little guy likes to pick his feet up so I can play with his little piggies.
Pajamas. Now that my baby is old enough, I let him pick his own pajamas.
Comb Hair. My JJ loves combing his own hair with his baby brush, seriously the cutest thing to see!
Brush Teeth. Gently brush gums and teeth, I use one with a silicone shield to protect my baby from over-insertion.
Read a book. Let your baby choose a few books to read. We also use this time for extra cuddles on mommy and daddy’s bed.
Say Goodnight. Say goodnight to mom, dad, sibling, moon, books, bears and so on. You may sound silly, but baby becomes aware that it’s time to go to sleep.
Sing lullabies. I love singing lullabies to my little JJ, he stares at me with his big brown eyes for a few seconds before they begin to get smaller and smaller while I rock him.
Bed. Once baby is in his crib, he turns over and falls asleep.
