I love encouraging my children to use their imagination. It is a great way to bring out a child’s creative side and allows them to imagine anything they want. My firstborn loves pretend play. My toddler is the same way, he uses anything and everything to keep himself entertained.
How To Encourage Pretend Play
-Don’t offer too many choices. Donating old toys is always a great way to keep your own set curated to what your child plays with and give new life to ones they’re done with. My kids play more when they have fewer options. Having too many toys can sometimes be overwhelming.
-Play along with your child. I love getting on the floor and playing with my children. It sparks joy in them when I follow their lead and interact with their imaginary world.
-Choose toys that allow children to use their imagination. Stores are filled with toys, choose toys that promote interaction and can be used for pretending.
My toddler loves playing with Wonder Makers™ Design System from Fisher-Price! It is a new design and track toy that allows kids ages 3 years+ create their scene through play. They can mix and match pieces, create tracks, and use their imagination to make their creations.
